Kevät – Spring

tulee aamu taaskin, valon kehrä kiertää kiven
jos kohta varjot lankee, lankee ne jotta valo näkyisi
paremmin kirkassilmän katsoa kauneutta
koreutta maanpiirin humalluttavaa

Now that the winter’s gone, the earth hath lost
Her snow-white robes, and now no more the frost
Candies the grass, or casts an icy cream
Upon the silver lake or crystal stream;
But the warm sun thaws the benumbed earth,
And makes it tender; gives a sacred birth
To the dead swallow; wakes in hollow tree
The drowsy cuckoo, and the humble-bee.
Now do a choir of chirping minstrels bring
In triumph to the world the youthful Spring.

Project Spectrumin helmi-maaliskuun värit ovat valkoinen, harmaa ja sininen. Suomen talvessa nämä värit ovat hyvin helppoja kohteita. Koska Rambling Rose Cardigan on edelleen kesken, aloitan Project Spectrumin valokuvin (klikkaa suuremmaksi).

Project Spectrum colors for February and March are white, grey and blue. In the Finnish winter it’s not a difficult task to study these colors. And since the Rambling Rose Cardigan is still unfinished, I’ll begin Project Spectrum with photos (click to enlarge).

Toinen tänään alkava tempaus on Lankahamsterit, joihin osallistun Lankahamsterit 2– blogissa. :)

Ajattelin muutenkin kuluvana vuotena hieman tarkkailla langanostotapojani, ja lisäsin tuohon reunapalkkiin tuollaisen lankavarastolaskurin. Laskuriin merkitsen kaiken kulutetun ja hankitun langan. Tällä hetkellä langanostot johtavat kulutusta huimasti, mutta onneksi se paranee pian Rambling Rose:n valmistuttua.

Also beginning today is the Finnish “Knit from your stash” (It’s really called Yarn hamsters, since people who collect too many thing are called hamsters in Finland. Kind of like hamsters who stuff their cheeks full of food that they can’t comfortably eat.). So for the duration of February I’m competing in not buying any yarn, and using up the most from my stash. I don’t really have enough time to win (last year people knitted several kilograms! in a month!) but I’ll enjoy the challenge.

This has also led me to the conclusion that I should really pay attention to my stash acquiring this year. So I’ve added a stash counter in the sidebar where you can see the stash I’ve knitted and the stash I’ve acquired so far in 2007. It doesn’t look too good right now, but luckily when Rambling Rose is done, the count should look a bit more healthy.
